INBO publishes Rules of Thumb for Timber Construction
Where do we stand with timber construction? The publication ‘Rules of Thumb for Timber Construction for Multi-storey Residential Buildings in the Design Phase’ makes it clear.
INBO presents the publication ‘Rules of Thumb for Timber Construction for Multi-storey Residential Buildings in the Design Phase’. This publication is the result of INBO’s own research into the state of the art in timber construction and is based on interviews with timber builders, timber constructors and timber producers, as well as INBO’s own experience during the timber building design process of timber buildings.
The purpose of the rules is to provide architects and developers with the tools to arrive at a realistic and affordable timber building design in the early stages of the design process.
We take a keen interest in timber construction and are happy to share our knowledge in this area, so that others can make faster progress in this field.
‘If we have a better understanding of how wood can be used, we can make a big step forward in the expansion of timber construction, especially in stacked housing,’ said Merel Vos, initiator and adviser on timber construction.
In 2021, INBO published its ‘Handbook Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) for Architects and Structural Engineers’, also the result of its own research. That publication was frequently downloaded from the website.
The publication is in Dutch.
